Mesothelioma Information

Mesothelioma Patients

Mesothelioma patients are often told that mesothelioma is such an aggressive cancer that there are few effective treatments. Recently, however, treatment regimens have been developed which are very effective during stage one and in some cases stage two. The 5-year survival rate of the patients who receive the newest and best mesothelioma treaments is now over 40%. However, this statistic is also kind of misleading since the majority of those diagnosed with mesothelioma are older individuals who may have other unrelated illnesses, including some other asbestos related illnesses, which decreases the likelihood of long term survival.

It is important that mesothelioma patients seek out the best possible doctors and begin treatment immediately to increase their chances of survival. Knowledge of mesothelioma treatment continues to grow among the vast majority of doctors previously not aware of current advances and techniques. Earlier detection is starting to become more common as people begin to become more informed of the type of symptoms they should bring to their doctors. Equally, doctors are becoming careful to avoid misdiagnosing mesothelioma as another less serious disorder, as was common a decade ago.

Mesothelioma patients should be aware that over 90% of mesothelioma cases were caused by asbestos exposure. If they had previous exposure to asbestos, chances are good that their mesothelioma was caused by asbestos exposure, even if it was 40 years ago. These individuals have legal options to obtain the compensation they deserve for their loss of health, income, and in some cases, life. In most cases individuals were exposed to mesothelioma in the course of their daily duties without ever knowing how dangerous asbestos was.

If you were exposed to asbestos and have now been diagnosed with mesothelioma or are a mesothelioma patient, there are legal options available to you. If you would like to learn more about these options, contact us at the Maune Raichle Law Firm.
